PROBLEM: This can be rather frustrating, you just bought a new car battery and whoops, it's dead
Well, i have got good news for you. It's not your car battery that needs fixing, the problem is your alternator
SOLUTION: Replace the alternator, though often times all one has to do is replace the connections
HOW TO REPLACE ALTERNATOR
i. Disconnect the positive cable. This cable should be red
ii. Locate the alternator on your vehicle
iii. Using a serpentine belt tool, loosen the belt and move it off the pulley of the alternator
iv. Put back the bolt that holds the alternator in place. These bolts depends on the make and model of your car, they should not be less than two and a maximum of four
v. Use a socket and ratchet to loosen and remove the bolt
vi. Pull out the alternator, then unplug and remove the nut for any electrical connections
vii. Remove the alternator and take it to a spare parts dealer or house to get a new one or rebuilt one
viii. Inspect the new alternator before leaving the parts house. Make sure the voltage regulator and pulley match up to the old one. If it does not, get the parts house to put the old pulley assembly on the new one
ix. Reverse the process to install the new alternator
x. Connect new alternator to electrical plugs and wires
xi. Slide the alternator into place and thread old bolts in the right position
xii. Put the alternator pulley into place, bolting it down. Make sure it aligns with the belt tensioner pulley
xiii. Use the serpentine belt tool to get the slack you need and slip the belt back over the alternator pulley, then release the tool by putting tension on the belt
xiv. Reconnect the positive battery cable
xv. Start your car and make sure the alternator is charging
